Be PERSUASIVE! (NO Fallacy!)

Speech Topic #1: Should children under 13 be allowed to stay at home by themselves?

Pro: Many parents are too busy to take care of their kids during day time. Among these parents, many of them came from a poor family. Since they are already poor, they have no choice, so they have to work in order to earn money to pay for all the payments to support the kids and the whole family. Some of the company they work in does not allow them to take a day off for them to take care of their kids, and some of workplaces are just too dangerous for kids to be around. Many of these parents are too poor to hire a babysitter, so they have no other choice, but left their young children at home all by themselves.

Con: Children under 13 can be as dangerous as they would be in the dangerous work place. Some typical home supplies that they might not seen before or just are curious about could be very harmful to them, such as knife and stoves in the kitchen. Many children under 13 do not have the ability to take care of themselves yet. Many of these children do not have a quick sense of what they should do if they happened to face an emergency, such as a fire in the house, or a terrible earthquake. Many of them are not capable to stay at home by themselves without a guardian because they have so many unlearned skills to protect themselves.

Speech Topic #2-Should students be sent to cram schools?

Pro:Students should be sent to cram schools because it helps them to study better, and many of them have better grades as a result of going to cram schools. Also, it is a great chance for students to build a bigger friend network that has direct relationship to their future job among their classmates. Cram schools help the kid to learn better if they have not in school, because cram school teachers had many experience with many kids from several different schools, and they know exactly what they teacher in the schools love to test students about. Cram schools are great place like a babysitter center, because many parents are too busy to take care of their children, so they thought why not just put their children in cram schools, not only the kid can see their friends, be safe in cram schools, but also have a great environment to study.

Con:Children should not be sent to cram schools because it does not help them study better. Many of these children were forced to attend cram schools. Because they did not want to attend in the first place, how can you expect they want to study if you force them to? Also, cram schools are not such a good environment for children to study, because they might be distracted by their friends or classmates in their cram schools instead of focusing in their studies. Cram schools are taking away the kids free time, and they should be able to use these free time dedicate to outside of studies activity, such as entertainment or sports. Good study and good outside activity help the children to have a healthier balance on their life instead of putting all time on to studies. Many cram schools teachers give extra studies and material to kids to study and work on, which is a good thing to the study. However, these materials take away all the time that the kid needs to spend on for their in school homework, which is the main and basic material that the should know and understand for their tests and quizzes.

Speech Topic #3: Should Corporal Punishment be allowed in school?

Pro:Corporal punishment should be allow in school because people tend to relate pain more than verbal words when they think about a bad thing they had done, and whether they should keep on doing it or stop. It is a good way for students to learn what they had done wrong, because if a student earn a detention or suspension, the teacher is basically giving them a holiday off, and the punishment transformed from a punishment to a reward. Therefore, the punishment had lost its point of education on the kid. Also, people in the past had committed less crimes than the generation we are living in right now. In their generation, corporal punishments were allowed in school. Because of this, they were able to learn better about what is right and wrong. However, in this generation, corporal punishments are less available, which resulted that students do not learn what is right and wrong. We also see that people in the past are more respectful to teachers, whereas nowadays, students do not have the sense of respect. We can see that by this example when in the past, a teacher said a few words to a student, the student said nothing back, and listen as the teacher says; whereas today, a teacher said a word to the student, the student answer the teacher ten times more and even added some swear words into their conversation. Therefore, corporal punishment should be allowed in school to fix the society today.

Con: Corporal punishment should not be allowed in school because students have rights, and they should have their rights for not getting physical punishment even if they did something wrong. Many of these students did something wrong because they wanted to have the attention from their fellow classmates. They were the ones that already have a low self-esteem, but if the teacher still decides to physically punishment, their self-esteem becomes even lower, which will not led to a good consequence. Some students will not even understand and remember what they did wrong even if the teacher physically punish them, so banning corporal punishment can help teacher prevent themselves from being sue by the student's parents. Many people believe that it is better if they use love to teach the students, because many of these students already had a broken family, and love is the only way for the student to trust the teacher and follow as the teacher ask, instead of a teacher who they do not trust because the teacher always physically punish them.
